Market research company Canalys shared the results of its latest research on the smartphone industry. The research, which covers the first quarter of 2023, reveals which “premium” phone models are the most preferred by consumers. It should be noted that the term premium phone for Canalys includes devices with a price above $ 500. So, how did the consumer with money choose?
The data shared by Canalys reveals that there is a remarkable situation in consumer behavior. According to the research, all smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2023 decreased by 13.3 percent compared to the same period last year. So phone sales generally fell. However, consumers showed more interest in premium phones priced at $500 and above compared to the previous year. Premium phone sales rose 4.7 percent year-on-year. The share of premium phones in the entire market increased by 4 percent year-on-year to 31 percent.
