What is the latest situation in the market?
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have gained momentum in recent days. As we reported on Kriptokoin.com, Bitcoin broke $22,000. However, the rise of Ethereum overshadowed Bitcoin. Ethereum has been experiencing a massive rally over the past six days as its price has surged 50 percent against the USD over the period. ETH also strongly outperformed BTC. As seen in the chart below, it increased 25 percent against BTC over the same period.
This move came about a month after the cryptocurrency traded in a fairly narrow range, which clearly broke to the upside. Ethereum’s ninth shadow-fork is live. That’s why it put some of the final testing steps towards the transition to a proof-of-stake (PoS) network. It was designed to test the updates made in the last Sepolia hard fork, which took place on July 6th. It will also focus on the maximum extractable value (MEV) boost feature. This is essentially the maximum value that can be derived from block production, exceeding the standard gas fees and block reward.
Currently, it is the miners who extract the MEV as the network is working on proof of work. However, when ‘Merge’ occurs, there will be validators that can extract the maximum value. Another important update that the community received was the release schedule of Ethereum 2.0, the long-awaited event that the entire industry has been looking forward to.
