Oceangate Expeditions has shared the most detailed video ever captured of the world’s most famous sunken ship, the Titanic. It is extremely important for researchers that the shared images reveal new information that has not been observed until now, as well as the high details.

According to the organization, the aim of this initiative is to examine the sunken wreck of the Titanic in general and to obtain more detailed information about the rate of deterioration of the wreck. In April 1912, the RMS Titanic crashed into an iceberg on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, USA, and sank 3,800 meters into the sea, and is still being studied with deeper sea cameras and 3D sonar scanners.

“We’re seeing new details in this image,” explains veteran Titanic diver Rory Golden. “For example, I’ve never seen the name of anchor manufacturer Noah Hingley & Sons Ltd. I’ve been inspecting the wreck for decades and have completed multiple dives and can’t remember seeing another image showing this level of detail. It’s exciting that after all these years, we’ve discovered a new detail that wasn’t so evident in previous generations of camera technologies.”

The resulting 8K resolution images show the bow, gangway, number one hull, anchor chain, number one cargo hold and still-sturdy bronze capstans, as well as evidence of decay where the Titanic’s railings collapsed and fell. Of course, the Titanic images obtained 110 years later will not be the last. Oceangate Expeditions is planning another expedition to begin in May 2023.
