Each year, TIME magazine, which evaluates the names spoken by what they did during the year and their achievements, chose the ‘Person of the Year’ for 2022. The magazine also chose ‘Heroes of the Year’, ‘Icon of the Year’ and ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ as the person of the year.
Person of the Year was chosen in a public vote launched by TIME last week. Candidates included Elon Musk, Liz Cheney, MacKenzie Scott, Ron DeSantis and Janet Yellen, and Volodymyr Zelenski.
Person of the Year: Volodymyr Zelenski!
Volodymyr Zelenski, who played a major role in the protection of Ukraine with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, was named Person of the Year by TIME. On the other hand, Zelenski will not carry this title alone.
The Person of the Year award was given to the “Spirit of Ukraine”, which symbolizes the country’s resistance to occupation, with Volodymyr Zelenski.
Heroes of the Year: Iranian Women
Iranian women are fighting for education, liberality, secularism, college and international travel, political involvement, freedom of expression and dress code in the country.
Icon of the Year: Michelle Yeoh
Malaysian Michelle Yeoh managed to make her name known this year with the movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. The actress was named “The Greatest Female Action Hero of All Time” by Rotten Tometoes in 2008, and “The 50 Most Beautiful People in the World” by People in 1997.
Entertainer of the Year: Blackpink
The Blackpink group, which has achieved great popularity all over the world and consists of four women, was named ‘Entertainer of the Year’ by TIME. The group managed to sell more than one million copies in just one month with their debut album ‘The Album’ in 2020.
