Tim Cook, speaking at the Global Privacy Summit event in Washington, said: “If we have to allow unverified apps on iPhone, there may be serious unintended consequences. Data collector Companies will be able to circumvent our privacy policies and re-track our users against their will.”

EU is working on new laws

Authorities in different countries are now trying to change Apple’s mobile app store policy. The EU is preparing to enact a Digital Markets Act, which will stop the official App Store from being the only source of software in the Apple device ecosystem and prevent the company from charging special fees for each transaction.

US lawmakers, who see signs of monopoly in the actions of both Apple and Google, will take similar action. More than 30 states sued Google in July, accusing the company of abusing its dominant position in the mobile software market.
