TikTok, which helps users discover both current and past music artists, is now planning to launch its own music service. Reportedly, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the brand “TikTok Music”.
A new one can be added to music platforms
According to the statement, TikTok Music will allow users to “purchase and download music, albums, lyrics, as well as live audio and video streaming.” Users will also be able to edit photos as the cover of playlists and comment on songs.
While ByteDance currently offers some of the features outlined in its trademark application, such as playlists, song sharing, and community interaction, with a music streaming service called Resso, the app is only available in regions such as India, Brazil, and Indonesia.
TikTok boosts minigame support for creators
It is not yet known whether TikTok, which made its trademark application first in Australia and then in the USA, will combine the new service with the Resso platform. TikTok Music, on the other hand, may debut as a separate streaming service as ByteDance must demonstrate that it will actually use the new brand before filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
