Threads’ active user count dropped by 80 percent
As you know, Threads gained popularity at a time when Twitter was criticized and reached 100 million users in a short time. However, since last week, we started to hear news that the losses started in Threads. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg denied these claims and said, “More people return to Threads every day than I expect.” However, analytics companies Similarweb and Sensor Tower say the opposite.
As you know, just two days after the launch of Threads, it was shared that the number of daily active users was 49 million, and right after it was around 100 million. However, as of August 1, it turned out that this number was just over 9.6 million. In addition, interactions on the social media platform have also decreased considerably. According to Similarweb, time spent in the app peaked at an average of 14 minutes per day on July 6, but dropped to just 2.3 minutes as of August 1.
Losing blood in its competition with Twitter
Another analytics company, Sensor Tower, says the number of active users is decreasing by about 1 percent each day, and 82 percent from July 5 to July 31.
Although the shared data is disappointing for Threads, Twitter, or X with its new name, continues to come up with decisions that will be criticized every day. Of course, it is worth noting that Elon Musk is behind this. Therefore, we will have to wait for a while to see what Threads will do in this competition.
