Meta launched its text-based app Threads, which will rival X and formerly Twitter, last month. Although the new application attracted a lot of attention at first and exceeded 100 million users, it lost its popularity over time. Mark Zuckerberg also stated that more than half of the users have been lost recently.
However, an analysis by a company called Website Planet revealed that Threads received more engagement than X, despite losing a significant amount of users.
Popular accounts get 8x more likes on Threads than X
30 brands compared based on the number of likes and comments on both platforms. As a result, it turned out that although they have fewer followers, they get more engagement on Threads than on X. This was seen in all but four of the accounts, ie 87%.
Website Planet says there is a big difference in the number of likes. Accordingly, companies get eight times more likes on Threads than X on average.
For example, the news agency Reuters gets 6.5 times more likes on Threads, despite having much less followers. Let’s say that Reuters has 25.6 million followers on Twitter and 550 thousand followers on Threads. On the other hand, Red Bull, which has 85% fewer followers than X on Threads, received 23 times more likes on Meta’s platform.
The analysis shows that Threads has been able to stand out when it comes to brand engagement, despite a significant drop in user numbers. It is possible to say that this data can encourage companies to share on Threads. We will see over time whether the application will come to the places it wants with the contribution of new features to come.
