Starting in early May, Apple services will no longer work, except iCloud, on some older versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. So, which versions of iPhones, Apple Watches and Mac computers will no longer be able to access Apple services?

Which Apple devices will not be able to access the services?

Users will not be able to access any Apple services other than iCloud on the following software versions:

  • iOS 11 – iOS 11.2.6
  • macOS 10.13 – macOS 10.13.
  • watchOS 4 – watchOS 4.2.3
  • tvOS 11 – tvOS 11.2.6

The vast majority are using older iOS versions

Apple will send push notifications telling users to update their devices to newer software version. There is no explanation yet as to why Apple services will be discontinued for devices running on older software versions released between late 2017 and early 2018. iOS adoption rates announced every year show that users do not prefer to update to new versions, especially for battery performance. However, it seems that updating Apple devices will soon become a necessity.
