In the last few months, Microsoft has been working hard to get more users to switch to the Edge browser. The firm also admitted that it specifically encouraged this by using certain “redirection” scenarios.
Recently, when a user opens the Edge browser and wants to download Chrome, an information box appears on the screen and says that Edge uses the same technology (Chromium) as Chrome and that it is not necessary to switch to a new browser.
So far, no problem. However, the same message also states that the Edge browser is more secure than Chrome “with Microsoft’s trustworthiness,” and in this way, Google Chrome is directly targeted.
Just like Microsoft, Google also occasionally advertises its own product on the search results page in a similar way. But it’s also clear that Microsoft wants to escalate the war with notifications that target Chrome directly.
Now that it has started to do this, we are curiously waiting for what move Microsoft will make next to attract users to the Edge side. . .
