Earlier this month, a snowboard trainer named Tim Blakey and a person were skating on a glacier near Zermatt, Switzerland. But as it sped downhill at a high speed, it fell into a hidden crevice at about 10,000 feet. At this point, the iPhone he used saved his life.

iPhone saved lives with its Emergency SOS feature!

Tim Blakey failed to notice the rift in the glacier below him as he was moving at high speed while teaching his student at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. Blakey, who fell from a height of about 5 meters into a hollow, says that when he reached for his phone to ask for help, he saw only 3 percent charge left.

Therefore, Blakey realized that his best option was to take advantage of the Emergency-SOS feature in the iPhone, and immediately took this step. In this way, his location was shared with the people he had previously registered and the emergency service.

Rescuers are said to have arrived shortly after the incident, performing first aid, and then pulled Blakey out of the burrow and taken to the hospital to treat his injured foot. Of course, the casualty would like to thank both the team that made the first response after the incident and Apple, who developed the feature to activate the Emergency feature by pressing the button 5 times on the iPhone.

In a statement days after the event, Blakey said:

Perhaps my first step will be to bring awareness to the wonderful work these men are doing on the mountain and to make sure others don’t be as careless as I am.
