Digging secret tunnels and jumping from ceilings are among the countless strange ways thieves try to steal valuables. But no one expected the moment when a woman bit a store’s anti-theft cable and ran away with a brand new iPhone 14 Plus.
Incredible footage shows the woman, known only as ‘Qiu’, browsing the devices at a store in Fujian, south-east China. After examining the device, which looks like a MacBook, he turns to look at the latest 7,000 yuan iPhone model. Qiu is then seen examining the device for a few seconds before unexpectedly putting it in his mouth and gnawing on the cable.
According to the South China Morning Post, although the store’s alarm went off, this was not noticed by the store staff at first. However, Sina News reports that Qiu was arrested just 30 minutes after leaving the store.
Although Qiu wanted to buy this iPhone after losing his own, he allegedly told the authorities that the prices dissuaded him. It is known that Qiu is currently detained and under investigation.
