In recent years, there has been a great space competition between countries. The International Space Station (ISS) came to the fore today with a frightening statement. Accordingly, there was a third leak in the section where Russian cosmonauts were located. Here are the details!
It turned out that one of the two radiators was leaking ammonia into space!
Russia faced many problems within the scope of space studies this year. According to news emerging today, Russia’s Nauka module suffered a new leak due to faulty hardware on the International Space Station (ISS).
In a blog post, it was stated that Nauka’s spare radiator, mounted on the outside of the module, leaked coolant at 13:00 on October 9. The leak in question came to light on October 9, when flight controllers noticed an alarm in the Nauka module.
NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli visually confirmed that one of the module’s two radiators was leaking ammonia into space. This leak is not as effective as the leak that hit the Russian Soyuz capsule at the end of 2022. NASA stated that the crew was not in any danger after the incident.
On the other hand, it turned out that operations are continuing as usual for now. Roscosmos said engineers were investigating the cause of the leak. The incident follows a recent coolant leak from a Russian spacecraft parked at the station. Small meteors were shown to be responsible for these leaks.
