A module that houses a movie studio and a sports arena can be connected to the International Space Station by December 2024. The project is behind Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE), which co-produced a Tom Cruise movie that will be shot in part in space. If things go well for the module, called SEE-1, it is expected to host TV and film productions, as well as musical events and some live-streamed sporting events.
Axiom Space, which won a NASA contract to build the first commercial ISS module two years ago, will also be signing this module. SEE-1 will attach to Axiom’s arm on the ISS.
It is not yet clear whether SEE and Axiom will succeed in their plans. No explanation was given about the cost of the project; A fundraising tour is currently planned.
Last year, a Russian team shot a feature-length fiction film in space for the first time, beating Cruise and his director, Doug Liman.
