The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has appealed to the public to help identify two thieves who stole $300,000 worth of playing cards, including Magic: The Gathering packages, at this weekend’s Gen Con.
IMPD detectives released photos of two suspects who reportedly stole a palletful of playing cards on August 2, a day before the fair opened to the public. According to the police report, the robbers were using a pallet jack and in the middle of the day they took the card pallet and vanished into thin air.
Launching the Disney Lorcana card game at the weekend event, Ravenburger reassured fans that the theft did not affect their stock of the highly anticipated cards.

Perhaps thieves are hoping to get lucky, like Canadian Brook Trafton, who sold the one-of-a-kind Lord of the Rings Magic: The Gathering card to musician Post Malone for $2 million.
Trafton said he fulfilled his childhood dream when he found the rarest card from TCG’s Lord of the Rings set earlier this year. When famed Magic: The Gathering collector Post Malone contacted him to take a look at the unique card, he wasn’t expecting to sell it to him. But when Malone offered Trafton $2 million for the collection, Trafton admits he cried a lot and agreed to sell the card.
