Some applications in the Google Play Store continue to be risky for users. When installed, these normally seemingly innocent apps infect your phone with a Trojan called Sharkbot and steal your sensitive banking information.
They act like a normal app
Sharkbot, the Android banking malware, targets your login, account number and other financial sensitive information. These apps, which are available in the Play Store, act as a normal, harmless app at first. Afterwards, this app sends an “update” request and directs you to the fake Play Store. This page opened in the browser is trying to make the user feel safe with inflated application information. When you enter this page, the download process starts automatically, thus avoiding the Play Store’s security measures.
Although Amsterdam-based ThreatFabric reports that it has made the necessary reports to remove malware from application stores, removing the application from the store does not mean that it has been removed from your phone. Therefore, if the following applications are on your phone, be sure to delete that application.
Apps that need to be deleted:
- Recover Audio, Images & Videos
- Codice Fiscale 2022
- Zetter Authentication
- File Manager Small, Lite
- My Finances Tracker
