Twitter users with Apple devices ran into an issue with their Apple device a few hours ago. This sharing error caught the attention of its users in a short time. Apple’s messaging app has a problem with Tweet links to the world’s most active social media platform

iMessage crashes preview when sharing Tweet

When sharing a content on the Twitter platform with iMessage, a sharing image such as a link, application name, page title and a featured image was formed. A few hours ago there was an error in these posts. Twitter links cannot be previewed in iMessage at this time.

So much so that after pasting it into a tweet URL, simply an unloaded link bubble greets users. The exact cause of the main source of the problem is unknown, but it is emphasized that it may be a server error on Twitter. It is thought that this error in iMesseage will be fixed soon.

This issue does not occur when sharing links on other platforms and websites. Thus, the probability of the problem originating from Twitter increases. One of the reasons is that the backend process for tweets works a little differently. iMessage calls a custom endpoint to show the formatted inline tweet bubble and gather the relevant features needed.

Currently for iMessage preview requests, the Twitter backend currently rejects all of them with an “abnormal activity detected” error. Twitter’s server infrastructure may be interpreting Apple’s iMessage traffic as some sort of bot or DDOS attempt. No explanation has been received from the parties in this regard yet.
