A musicologist shared a red-spotted background image on Twitter. And he said there is a number hidden in this image. But you have to be a little patient to find the hidden number hidden in front of you.

From a can of Coke that isn’t actually red to fuel pumps that look like they’re changing colour, mind-blowing optical illusions have popped up in the past few months. But this latest illusion that has taken the internet by storm is probably one of the toughest we’ve ever seen.

Sharing an image of a red-spotted background on Twitter, the musicologist hid a number inside. He shared, “Which number do you see?” You have to be patient and maybe use a magnifying glass to find this hidden number.

More than 573,000 people have viewed this illusion so far and have given different answers. Some claimed the answer was 7, while others suggested it was 574. But the correct answer is of course 571.

If you still can’t see it, try changing the angle of the view by tilting your screen back and forth. Or you can see more clearly by squinting.

There is more…

This isn’t the first hidden number optical illusion to baffle audiences in recent weeks. In April, online gaming site Jackpot Joy created an image with a number hidden among confetti. CEO Alex said the tip to solve the illusion is to make the photo smaller. So you see a 20 in green at the bottom of the image.

Many scientists have spent many years trying to understand how optical illusions work. But the truth is, in most cases, we’re still not entirely sure how our brains and eyes work to create these illusions. We only know that the information our eyes collect goes on a long and complex journey to the brain.
