While liquid fuel rocket igniters, which take a long time to prepare for launch, are generally preferred in space programs because they provide more effective thrust; Solid rockets, which have the ability to fire instantly and can be transported more easily from one place to another, are mostly used for military purposes.

China, which has been working to develop the world’s most powerful solid-fuel rocket engine for a while, shared the information that the engine has been tested. At the end of this advance in solid rocket firing technology; It is estimated that it can open new doors to satellite launch and manned space travel.

The new engine will be the best in the world in its field

In the statement made by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC); It was noted that the rocket engine, which was subjected to ground testing in the city of Xi’an in Shansi province, obtained 500 tons of thrust. It was stated that new technologies were used in the combustion chamber and exhaust in order to increase the thrust of the rocket engine, in which composite materials containing higher resistance fibers were used in order to reduce its weight and size.

The statement also stated that the new 3.5-meter-long engine can produce 4 times more power than the liquid-fueled rocket engine that fires the Long March 5, the largest carrier rocket that China is currently using in its space program. China claims that the engine is the best in the world in its field.

China has already rolled up its sleeves to produce a 1000-tonne thrust version of the engine, which is still in the testing phase. It was reported that the engine with 1000 tons of thrust is under development.
