Although the Covid-19 virus is gradually losing its effect, there may be serious increases in the number of cases periodically. For this reason, Tesla decided to stop working for its production facility in China, which includes the world’s largest electric car factory.

Tesla Shanghai production facility stopped for the 2nd time in 1 month!

Tesla has decided to cease operations for the second time this month for its Shanghai manufacturing facility, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was initially closed for two days in the past weeks. With the new decision, the shutdown will continue for the next four days, including today. Therefore, we can say that the company closed this week.

This Tesla facility, which also includes the world’s largest electric car production factory, Gigafactory Shanghai, produces vehicles primarily for the Chinese market. However, it also has a high export target to European countries, especially Germany and Japan. In fact, according to the latest data, it can pull 60 thousand cars off the production line per month.

Although most of the cases in China and especially in the Shanghai region are asymptomatic, the government has started a new two-stage quarantine as of today, where it will carry out mass tests. However, curfews were imposed in different parts of the country until Friday. Therefore, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stopped production because he had to comply with this decision, although he did not want to.

Of course, there are some good developments for Tesla. On March 15, it opened its Berlin branch, which is the first facility in Europe, in which it invested 5 billion dollars. Although it is not known how many cars are produced in Germany at the moment, we can say that there will be no need for shipments from China in the coming days.
