Chick Bites, a prize food produced by Meatly and made of the world’s first laboratory production meat, was offered for sale in a limited number. This special product will be on the shelves at the Pets At Home store in Brentford, England. Stating that they aim to increase the production capacity, the company also signaled that this product will be available on a wider scale.

Meat period for pets

The United Kingdom was the first European country to give Meatly the approval of producing pet food produced with meat produced in a laboratory in July 2024. Meatly claims to produce pet foods for the first time in the world using such meat. The company states that this is an important step to reach a healthy, sustainable and friendly meat market on our planet and other living things.

These products, also called laboratory production meat or culture meat, have not yet been approved for human consumption in the United Kingdom and Europe, Singapore, Israel and most of the United States have been limited to sale in most parts of the United States. In addition to political pressures, it is stated that the production capacity should be increased in order to make these products commercially applicable.
