Computers, one of the important parts of our daily life, have started to become more capable with the development of technology. While a new technology or hardware is being presented to users day by day by companies that show up in this field, an important statement was made recently about RAM, which is considered one of the most important computer parts by South Korea-based semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix.

24GB DDR5 RAM chip is coming

The manufacturer recently announced that it has entered the final stage in its work on the world’s first 24GB DDR5 RAM chip. If we consider the memory modules, which typically reach a maximum capacity of 16 GB per chip, with the new chip, we will start to use RAM hardware with more capacities in similar form factors in the future.

SK Hynix focuses on the 1anm manufacturing process on 24GB DDR5 RAM chips. In this way, it is expected to offer more production efficiency and speed in addition to the increased density in RAMs. To be specific, 33 percent more performance and up to 25 percent reduction in power consumption will be possible compared to conventional chips. Thus, systems using 24 GB DDR5 RAM chips will become faster and more efficient.

Finally, it is worth noting that the chip in question is not a complete RAM module, on the contrary, it consists of chips within the hardware itself. As you may remember, South Korea-based Samsung also started working on a 768 GB RAM module using a 24 GB RAM chip, but later became silent on the subject.

SK Hynix plans to use this technology in places where high-end systems such as data centers are needed in the first place, and to be offered to normal users in the future. However, due to various reasons such as the current chip crisis, it is very difficult to give an exact date at this point.
