According to a report shared by the Orange County Police Office in the USA, a visitor lost his Apple Watch while on a trip to Disney World. The woman who dropped her Apple Watch while walking on a grating floor during the trip, later announced that she had been scammed.
dropped his Apple Watch, it was 40 thousand dollars!
The report alleges that the woman’s husband got out of the vehicle to try to retrieve the Apple Watch and asked the operators to stop the vehicle. It is stated that an officer later told the couple not to leave the vehicle while they were moving, while it was stated that he assured them that the smart watch would be returned to their hotel.
After sharing the incident report with Disney Guest Relations, the woman later learns that her lost watch is not on the staff. After this point, the visiting woman says she started getting credit card warnings. Allegedly, the owner of the lost watch has identified several credit cards to his Apple Watch, including an American Express card with unlimited credit.
The woman who started receiving alerts on her phone stated that a total of 40 thousand US dollars was spent and defrauded. Upon these warnings, the woman who lost her smart watch announced that she closed her credit cards.
A report on this matter was then submitted to the Orange County Police Office on April 14. Police asked the woman to speak to card issuers to learn more about the fraud charges for a full investigation. There is no explanation in the report about where the money was spent.
This 40 thousand dollar fraud investigation is quite confusing. It seems very difficult that this expenditure was made on the smart watch. Because once an Apple Watch is removed from the wrist, it automatically locks for safety. And before the payment is made, it is necessary to enter the correct password to unlock it. It is not possible to use the watch in this way unless a guessable password is entered.
Authorities continue to work on methods such as credit card copying outside of hours. We await the outcome of this investigation with interest. So what do you think about the disappearing Apple Watch? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
