The New York International Auto Show, which is considered one of the largest organizations in the automotive industry, opened its doors. Along with this fair, the World Car of the Year awards, which is another prestigious organization, found their owners.
Automotive journalists from around the world determined the winner among the finalists Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and KIA EV6. While it was noteworthy that all three vehicles that made it to the final were electric, this year’s winner managed to take home two more awards.
Hyundai IONIQ 5, 2022 World Car of the Year
Hyundai IONIQ 5 passed Ford Mustang Mach-E and KIA EV6 in the finals and won the 2022 World Car of the Year award. The electric crossover model also won the World Electric Car of the Year and the World’s Best Design of the Year awards.
IONIQ 5 , succeeded in surpassing the Audi e-tron GT and Mercedes-Benz EQS models in the World Electric Car of the Year category. The electric model competed with the KIA EV6 and Audi e-tron GT in the World’s Best Design of the Year award.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 has placed an embargo on the awards and winners in other areas have been announced. The Audi e-tron GT became the World Performance Car of the Year. Mercedes-Benz EQS, on the other hand, managed to take home the World Luxury Car of the Year award. Toyota Yaris won the World City Car of the Year award.
