In other words, one side of the planet of Mars is different and another side has a different height.
So what’s the reason for this inconsistency? How did this happen?
Scientists call this difference on Mars as Mars dilemma.
The problem is that the mountainous regions on the south side of Mars are about 5-6 kilometers higher than the north plains. Moreover, the Southern mountainous regions cover about 2 -third of the planetary surface.
Of course, scientists rolled up their sleeves to find out what reasons for this difference and two different views emerged. The first was that this was due to an external factor to a lunar asteroid hit.
The second was internal factors for heat flow in the interior of the planet. In order to solve the Mars dilemma, scientists decided to examine the recently identified Mars tremors.
In fact, we can use the information obtained from thousands of seismometers to learn the central base of a shock on Earth.
However, the data from the seismometer on Mars can only be obtained by InSight tool. In other words, in order to detect a random Mars tremor, the time difference in the middle of different types of vibration (P and S waves) should be measured.
With this measurement, it is possible to determine the distance of the zelzele and the movements of the particles on the ground and determine the direction of the earthquake more or less.
Scientists first followed how rocks in the southern mountainous regions of Mars affected seismic waves.
In this examination, the seismic waves (S waves) were examined how they lost energy as they moved in the rocks on the south sides. One -to -one studies were carried out for the Northern plains.
As a result of the comparison of the information obtained, it was seen that seismic waves lost much more rapidly in the mountainous soils in the south than the northern soils.
The reason for this was that the rocks under the southern highlands were warmer than the north -sides. In summary, the causes of this difference or duo in Mars, in other words, were related to the loss of energy and temperature.
However, in order to clarify the results, scientists must sign much more work. For now, this is our findings.
