Apple made iOS 17 generally available for all compatible iPhone models in the second half of last month. iOS 17 brought major improvements to existing features and also offered expanded customizations for the Lock Screen. However, the adoption rate of iOS 17 is unexpectedly at a slightly low level.

Bugs slow down the transition to iOS 17

According to shared statistics, only 25 percent of compatible iPhone models are using the iOS 17 version, and only 14 percent of them have installed the latest iOS 17.0.3 update. On the other hand, currently, almost 60 percent or even more of compatible iPhone models are using iOS 16 versions. The lower than expected adoption rate of iOS 17 is due to some problems that come with the update. It has been confirmed by Apple that iOS 17 contains a bug that causes the new iPhone 15 Pro models to overheat. This caused users to doubt the new version.

Apple released an update as promised and the overheating problem on the iPhone was mostly solved. It was initially speculated that the overheating issue was caused by Apple’s new A17 Pro chip. Additionally, the new titanium coating on the ‘Pro’ models was also blamed for causing overheating. However, Apple denied all these claims and stated that the problem would be solved with a software fix. If you have an iPhone 15 Pro, we recommend installing iOS 17.0.3.

However, users will most likely wait for the platform to become stable and then update to iOS 17. Since iOS 17 is still in its early stages, some of the most important features that the company announced on stage are still missing.
