It’s no secret that ChatGPT, OpenAI’s large language model powered artificial intelligence, is taking the internet by storm. The AI chatbot can generate human-like, flowing paragraphs of text almost instantly in response to basically any question or request you might have. Moreover, he can do your math homework and write a screenplay.
- What is ChatGPT? How to use ChatGPT?
But how fast did ChatGPT rise? The chatbot has become the fastest-growing consumer-facing app in history, according to a new analysis by Swiss investment bank UBS and multiple financial institutions reported. UBS stated that, in January, just two months after its public launch, ChatGPT had reached 100 million monthly active users, according to data collected from Similarweb. At the end of last month, the bot was being visited by around 13 million unique visitors per day.
For comparison, TikTok took roughly nine months from its launch worldwide to reach a net 100 million users. It took two and a half years for Instagram to reach this criterion.
In this statement from UBS, the statement that “in the 20 years we have followed the internet space, we do not remember a faster rise in consumer internet applications” is particularly noteworthy.
As it will be remembered, ChatGPT recently started to offer a paid subscription option called ChatGPT Plus.
