The ropes were tense in the Chinese phone market! Who’s on the hill?

In the fourth quarter of 2024 (October-December) in the Chinese smartphone market, Vivo was the most selling brand. The company has left its competitors behind with 13.2 million devices shipment and 17.6 %market share. Vivo’s sales increased by 14.8 %compared to the same period of the previous year, thus reinforcing its leadership in the market.

The summit in China is once again in Vivo!

Apple, which ranked second, followed Vivo closely with 13 million shipments and 17.3 %market share, but experienced a 7.1 %decrease. Apple’s decline led to the rapid rise of Huawei, ranked third. Huawei, who made 12.7 million shipments, reached a market share of 16.9 %and achieved a growth of 14.4 %and approached Apple.

Xiaomi caught the biggest growth in the Chinese market. 12.3 million devices shipment, the company reached a market share of 16.4 %, 29.5 %growth. After Xiaomi, Oppo and Honor come. Both brands made 10.5 million shipments and reached 14 %market share. However, Oppo rose by 7.1 %, while Honor decreased by 13.2 %.

In general, a total of 75 million smartphones were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2024 and the market has grown by 5.3 %. This shows that the Chinese smartphone market has grown on an annual basis for the fourth quarter in a row. A total of 271.4 million devices were referred throughout 2024. In other words, there is an increase of 3.7 %compared to 2023.

The Chinese government’s introduction of smartphone subsidies can allow the market growth to continue in 2025. In particular, the rise of Huawei and the decline of Apple show that consumer preferences in China are turning to domestic brands.
