Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently reached an agreement to acquire Twitter for approximately $44 billion. However, Musk, who later announced that the deal was suspended, surprised everyone with this move. Following this sharing, a statement came from the Twitter CEO.
Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal hinted in a series of tweets that Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company could be cancelled. Agrawal said that he is still responsible for Twitter for the time being, and that he continues to work to create a stronger Twitter.
Twitter CEO: Prepare for any scenario!
Speaking after Musk announced that his attempt to buy Twitter was “temporarily on hold” due to concerns about spam and fake accounts, Agrawal said that one should be prepared for all scenarios.
Agraval made the following statement on Twitter:
While the deal may seem imminent, we need to be ready for all scenarios and always do the right thing for Twitter. I am responsible for managing and operating Twitter, and our job is to build a stronger Twitter every day.
While it remains unclear whether Musk will actually stop the deal, experts say it’s perfectly normal to suspend a deal. However, recent developments seem to frighten investors. Twitter’s shares are down around 10 percent today, amid fears that the deal may fail.
Agrawal has to deal with two different problems right now. On the one hand, the CEO tries to stand strong against Musk’s announcement to suspend the deal, on the other hand, he is confronting the criticisms about the dismissal of two top executives. Hiring on Twitter is also temporarily suspended.
