We’re just starting to see Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor on phones. However, the company has already taken action for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. According to the information received, Qualcomm has taken an important decision on the production of its new flagship processor.
TSMC ahead of Samsung in processor race
Qualcomm has been entrusting its processors to Samsung with TSMC for a long time. However, this situation seems to change with the new generation processor. According to the allegations, Qualcomm will entrust most of its chip orders to TSMC due to its incredible efficiency rate of 80 percent.
The current yield rate of a GAA Wafer with 3 nm technology is 60 to 70 percent. TSMC, on the other hand, manages to get an efficiency between 75 and 80 percent from this Wafer. With its high efficiency, TSMC is ahead of other chip manufacturers at this point.
In the light of this information, it would not be wrong to say that with the efficiency level reached by TSMC, Apple will not have a supply problem with the A17 Bionic and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors.
Samsung, another chip manufacturer, was far behind in production by offering a 20 percent efficiency rate in the first place. The company later managed to increase its efficiency by partnering with the US company Silicon Frontline.
Although Samsung has significantly increased its efficiency, it is allegedly lagging behind TSMC. Since low efficiency brings higher costs, the price for processors increases as well. Therefore, with lower cost, TSMC manages to get ahead of Samsung and other chip manufacturers.
Efficiency in production has become very important in this period when costs have risen considerably. So what do you think about TSMC and other chip manufacturers? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
