Cities: Skylines 2 mod contains malware
Cities: Skylines 2 players have received a new warning due to a malicious mod. The game’s publisher, Paradox Interactive, announced that the “Traffic” mod seen on the official mod platform has been updated with an unauthorized and potentially harmful .dll file. This change, which took place without the knowledge of the mod’s producer, was added with an external intervention.
Paradox noticed the situation and removed the harmful version of the mod from the Paradox Mods platform. However, players who have installed the Traffic mode in the past weeks may have been infected with a malicious file.
The company recommends that players in this situation check their files and look for the “80095_13” folder in the Cities Skylines 2 mod cache folder. This folder; It may have been updated to include the malicious .dll file.
Players can quarantine the file using antivirus software and run a full system scan as an extra precaution. The company also stated that it is checking other modes on the platform. Paradox also stated that the security of the mod creator’s account was ensured.
Although the cause of the incident is still being investigated, this appears to be an attack targeting the popular mode. Paradox assured players that the production was safe and playable.
