No one would be surprised that any iPhone with Ultra in its name is very expensive. So it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that the iPhone 15 Ultra, the subject of our new rumor, could be much more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Reliable leaker LeaksApplePro claims that the price of the likely iPhone 15 Ultra could start at $1,299. It doesn’t specify prices for other regions, but since Apple is currently selling the 512GB iPhone 14 Pro at that price, it’s likely that prices will be comparable.
For comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099 in the US, meaning a $200 increase in the starting price.
According to LeaksApplePro, Apple simply cites inflation as one of the reasons for justifying this price increase. But on top of that, this phone could have a number of upgrades not seen in the rest of the iPhone 15 series, including a titanium bezel, dual-lens selfie camera, and 256GB initial storage capacity.
All of this will reportedly lead to higher production costs of around $90 than those for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Perhaps more interestingly, the source says that the iPhone 15 Ultra may only be offered in a single color (the same silver tone as the Apple Watch Ultra). They say there may be other shades, but so far they haven’t seen any evidence of them.
As always, it’s good to be skeptical of these leaks, especially since we’re a long way from the iPhone 15’s possibly September 2023 release date.
