Last week, schools had a break for a week. The midterm break ends tomorrow and the training will continue face to face. Although distance education conversations have been on the agenda after the increasing cases recently, it was frequently repeated by various authorities that distance education would not be reinstated.
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer made a statement after a one-week break after 2.5 months of face-to-face training. Some of the students thought that they could continue to distance education due to the increase in cases, but the decision was not in this direction. Özer announced that schools will reopen tomorrow.
Some classes will remain ‘closed’:
On September 6, the 2021-2022 academic year started with 5 days a week for each class. After 2.5 months of training, a break would come. This holiday came last week, but some wanted it to be extended. Because the desired reduction in cases could not be achieved, and the school was a place where the spread of the virus was not very difficult. However, no change was made in the decision taken.
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced to all students and teachers that the schools will reopen on Monday: On September 6, 2021, we started face-to-face education at all grade levels, five days a week, and after a 2,5-month period, we entered the one-week mid-term break foreseen in the calendar. Our students and teachers had the opportunity to rest during the break holiday week. Now, we will continue from where we left off with the same determination and following all our health measures. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students a healthy and successful academic year. As of November 22, 2021, only 66 of 850 thousand classrooms will be closed. All other classes will continue with face-to-face instruction.
Stating that the classes that were quarantined and closed during the one-week break due to increasing cases have expired, Özer said, “As of November 22, 2021, only 66 of 850 thousand classes will be closed. All other classes will continue face-to-face education.” Minister Özer also talked about the precautions taken by teachers. Stating that the rate of teachers who received 2 doses of vaccination on August 6 was 60%, Özer stated that this rate is currently 88% and the rate of total teachers who have antibodies without vaccination is 93%.
