Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin, opened the Army 2022 fair event, which will last until August 22. At the fair, where many new and improved weapon systems took place, the robot war dog attracted attention.
While the armed robot dog is named M-81, it draws attention with its RPG-26 rocket system. On the other hand, the outfit dressed in the robot causes it to be called more ninja robot.
Robot dog bought from Alibaba
The developers of the M-81 robot note that this is an example of the system, and their future models can be used for civilian purposes. However, it has been revealed that the developed robot dog is a product of Unitree Robotic company, which is already sold on Alibaba. This robot dog, which is sold at a price of about 2700 dollars, looks like it was intended to be hidden from prying eyes by dressing like a ninja. As a comparison, Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot costs around $75,000.
China plans to increase scientific literacy level to 15%
On the other hand, this robot dog from Unitree was of course not designed for military scenarios. Therefore, it is stated that it is not possible for the M-81 exhibited by Russia to effectively use the RPG-26 anti-tank rocket launcher it carries.
Not only Russia works on robot dogs
Although Russia’s armed robot dog poses a question mark, many armies are currently working on modern systems. The US army is also performing some tests on military robot dogs. The gun dog named SPUR from Ghost Robotcs was one of the recent developments in the USA. Presumably, these won’t be the last news about armed robot dogs.
