Opera has released a new browser called Opera One, which will replace its flagship browser. The Norway-based company said this new browser has elements that will set it up for an “artificial intelligence-based productive future.” The main feature of Opera One, which is available as a developer preview, stands out as a new tab grouping concept called “Tab Islands”.
Opera One stands out with artificial intelligence and tab grouping
The Tab Islands feature uses artificial intelligence to automatically group tabs by content. For example, if you are looking for places to have dinner, tabs with different menus and locations will be brought together. If you’re working on a set of Google documents, they’re also grouped together. Likewise, if you are looking for hot deals in more than one tab on the DH forum, these tabs will be kept as a group. Honestly, this group feature looks pretty useful.
Each created group tab can be expanded or collapsed with a click. There’s also a handy tooltip feature for collapsed islands that can help you find the right set of tabs. This new approach is “a natural way to organize your tabs into contextual groups without breaking your flow,” said Joanna Czajka, Opera product director. The company added that Opera One uses Multithreaded Compositor, which helps to seamlessly render different complex web animations via GPU. Czajka notes that this helps better performance with other upcoming features like the tab island and a redesigned address bar.
In terms of AI-centric features for the new browser, Opera hasn’t given much detail. However, it should be noted that the ChatGPT and ChatSonic integrations that it brought to the flagship browser in March are also available in Opera One by default. It should be noted that Opera One will also replace the main browser in 2023 and its own artificial intelligence engine will be put into use. You can visit the link here to download Opera One.
