The New York Times has taken Wordle under its roof for a 7-figure price!

The New York Times is making an effort to bring its new puzzles to its users, especially in this pandemic period. Developed by Josh Wardle, a software engineer in Brooklyn, and which has been among the popular games since it was presented to the public in October 2021, the production comes up with a structure that gives players six tries to guess a mysterious five-letter word.

Wordle managed to break download records, especially during the shutdown process. The production, which reached only 90 people in the first month of its release, reached the number of downloads exceeding 300 thousand in 2 months after November. Nowadays, it manages to reach millions of players daily.

Making a statement on the subject, the Wordle side said:

If you’ve followed Wordle’s story, you’ll know that The New York Times Games played a big part in its origins, and that’s why this step feels so natural to me. I’ve long admired The Times’ approach to the quality of their games and the respect they show their players. Their values are in line with mine in these matters and I am very excited that they will be the stewards of the upcoming game.
