The features of the Galaxy Watch 6 series, which has been on the agenda with leaks for a while, have started to become clear. Breaking its silence today, Samsung announced that its upcoming smartwatch family will feature an FDA-approved heart rate monitoring feature. This feature, called IHRN, will be a component of the existing Electrocardiogram (ECG) feature on Galaxy watches. Here are the details

Galaxy Watch 6 key feature confirmed

Reportedly, the IHRN feature will be part of the One UI 5 Watch update and will be rolled out first on the Galaxy Watch 6 series. However, it should be noted that this feature will also be available on previous generation Galaxy Watch models in the future.

The Galaxy Watch 4 series to remember came up with the 3-in-1 BioActive sensor, which combines optical heart rate, electric heart and bioelectrical impedance analysis sensors for more accurate heart rate detection. It is stated that the IHRN feature, which will be newly available, will benefit from this sensor to control irregular heart rhythms in the background.

Additionally, the One UI 5.0 Watch update will bring enhanced safety features such as heart rate zone personalization, Fall Detection, and automatic SOS calls. However, it should be noted that these innovations will only be offered to Galaxy Watch 4 and above models. It won’t be available on older Tizen-powered models like the Galaxy Watch 3.

The Galaxy Watch will return to the 6 series, the new generation smartwatch family is expected to stand out with the Exynos W980 processor, thinner screen bezels and battery life. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, on the other hand, will bring back the iconic rotating bezel made famous in Samsung’s smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 6 family is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 in the second half of 2023.
