It has been just a few days since the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 arrived in the hands of owners. Now, Xiaomi has announced its new foldable phone that will rival Samsung. The new Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 can surpass the Z Fold 5 in many ways.
First of all, the phone looks very stylish. While we subjectively dislike the camera design, the rest looks as good as you’d want a premium foldable phone to be. There is also a choice of glass and composite fiber backs. It’s incredibly thin at just 5.3mm when unfolded.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is designed to withstand up to 500,000 fold cycles, compared to the 200,000 fold cycles of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Pixel Fold. Still, Xiaomi’s phone doesn’t have an IP rating, meaning it’s unlikely to be as water resistant as its rivals.
There’s a lot to like here, including the quad-lens camera on the back. Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide with 120-degree field of view, 10MP telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom and 10MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has a large 8.03-inch foldable OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the OLED cover screen measures 6.56 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both of these are larger than the screens found on foldable devices from Samsung and Google.
Finally, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, up to 1TB of storage, up to 16GB of RAM and a 4,800mAh battery with 67W wired to 50W wireless charging.
