The number of leaks about the new game of the Grand Theft Auto series has increased recently. Claims about the game’s release date aroused great repercussions on social media. A new piece of information revealed that Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 has been under development for nearly 10 years.
GTA 6 has been in development since 2015
According to the details in a LinkedIn profile of a former Rockstar employee, GTA 6 has been in the project since the beginning of 2015. The open world game, which was previously stated to have a budget of 2 billion dollars, seems to be the greatest production of all time.
Jon Young, a former research editor at Rockstar, stated that he worked on GTA 6 for three years until he left the company in 2018. This shows that the game started to be developed at least in 2015. This 7-8 year period is notable for being one of Rockstar’s longest development cycles ever.
By comparison, GTA 5 began development in 2008, shortly after the release of GTA 4. GTA 4, which met with the players in 2008, started pre-production in late 2004 after GTA San Andreas.
Given that GTA 6 has been in development since 2015 and Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two has hinted that it will launch in 2024, we can expect the next build to break records.
Additionally, Young mentioned that he was working on two different Bully games in 2008. Considering that Bully 2 was canceled in 2010, this leak shows that Bully 3 was also in development at one time.
