WhatsApp has been working on a feature it calls ‘companion mode’ for a long time. The feature, which has been working for a long time, was presented to beta users in the past weeks. The new feature is now available to general users.
WhatsApp can now be connected from four different phones
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, the umbrella organization of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, announced that the ‘companion mode’ was put into use. According to the statement, WhatsApp users can now connect to their accounts on four different phones.
Until now, WhatsApp users were able to use phones and the accompanying computer. With the announcement, users’ messages will be synchronized between devices, including other phones. Thus, even if one device is turned off, it will be possible to access the application from other devices.
WhatsApp is one of the largest communication platforms with more than 2 billion users. Due to the end-to-end encryption support offered in the popular application, multi-device support was not available until now. Thanks to the new technology developed by the company, it will now be able to synchronize between devices while maintaining its end-to-end technology.
WhatsApp first started multi-device testing in 2021. After about two years, the ‘accompaniment mode’ is finally available. Telegram and Messenger, which are the two biggest rivals of the communication platform, have had this feature for a long time. However, it is worth remembering that these applications do not support end-to-end encryption.
Starting to offer multi-device support, WhatsApp also announced that it has introduced a new method to connect these devices. From now on, users will be able to get a one-time password by entering their phone number instead of reading the QR code when entering WhatsApp Webb.
WhatsApp continues to offer different features every day to keep the user experience at a high level. So what do you think about WhatsApp and multi-device support? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
