While using the applications on your phone to communicate, count calories or go somewhere, companies can earn income through their requests for permission and secret followers. Of course, Apple and iPhones are not exempt from this situation.
Developers can create a profile about users by accessing information such as websites, travel plans and places you visit by using Apple’s smartphone settings. These transactions are completely legal, as companies provide users not to use these options with a few clicks on the phone. However, most users are not even aware of what these options are.
It is possible to turn off some settings on iOS at the operating system level, so you do not need to change the settings of each application one by one. However, you should remember that you can lose a feature with every setting you close. For example, closing the location tracking feature at the iOS level may limit the iPhone’s ability to send requests to emergency services. Therefore, you should create special exceptions for emergency services when changing your settings. In addition, some applications such as map and navigation applications will not work properly without knowing your location. Therefore, you can choose to provide location information for the applications you use and trust frequently.
But there are almost a few settings you need to change…
Tracking Options
It is not difficult to predict that developers want to know how you interact with advertisements. They continue to develop new methods to create a special ad profile for you by following you while moving with your phone and walking through many websites. While these profiles allow you to show you ads that are probably more of interest, many companies sell this information to other companies. You need to change this setting at the application level. By going to Settings> Privacy and Security> Tracking page of your iPhone, you can prevent applications from having this permission. All you have to do is turn off the “Allow applications to ask for a tracking permission” button. Unfortunately, closing this setting does not allow you to see less ads, but you will cut a source that developers can use to determine who you are and what you like to do.
IMPORTANT Locations
Your iPhone also follows the places you visit the most. Apple says this is to make your favorite locations faster and make map suggestions smarter. This is the feature that allows you to see suggestions about where you can go at certain times of the day in the maps application and is based on your daily habits. To disable this feature and delete saved data, you can turn off Settings> Privacy and Security> Location Services> System Services> Important Location options. When you close this feature, the recommendations made according to your past behavior will decrease. For example, if you look for a place to buy coffee near you, the coffee chains you visit the most will not be shown in the first place, or when you start the navigation mode at the end of the day, your home will not be your home.
Location tracking
Perhaps the most important of these features may be location tracking. According to Apple, “Location services use the position of device sensors, including GPS and Bluetooth to determine the location of your device, as well as Crowded Wi-Fi Effective Point and Base Station locations.” You can use your logic to use and close this feature. It is natural that some applications, such as your preferred navigation application, need to know where you are. However, a game you play mostly does not need to know your location. Fortunately, if you disrupt an application in such a way that you don’t want to work, you can re -give the permissions you have removed later. To change location tracking, you can go to Settings> Privacy and Security> Location Services. The applications you close this feature will not be able to see where you are and will lose your position to give special information to your location.
