Leaks emerged yesterday evening that Apple will introduce its new processors and devices using these chips. As a matter of fact, M2 Max, M2 Pro and MacBook Pro and Mac mini models using these chips were introduced today. So, are these the world’s most powerful processors, as Apple says? Here are the M2 Max and M2 Pro features…
Apple’s M adventure continues at full speed!
Apple had a big break with the M1 processor last year. The biggest reason behind this was that these new generation chips managed to provide much higher performance with low power consumption compared to their Intel predecessors.
Later, we saw that Apple made a design change and switched to a frameless and notched design on MacBook models. Of course, after the success on the processor side, the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors came. These chips, in turn, surpassed their rivals with Intel Core i9 and AMD Ryzen 9 in performance per watt, opening the door to a new era for laptops.
Finally, the M2 processor and the MacBook Air using this chip were introduced. This processor was considered unrivaled in performance and power consumption until the latest i9 and r9 chips. But as of today, Apple has once again managed to get ahead.
Because the new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors have taken the leadership seat by a wide margin from both their predecessors and competitors in terms of their features. So much so that the M2 Pro comes with a performance increase of up to 40 percent compared to the M1 Pro and up to 80 percent compared to the old MacBook Pro with i9 processor.
M2 Max and M2 Pro features
M2 Pro offers up to 12 cores CPU, up to 19 cores GPU and up to 32GB of fast combined memory. The M2 Max goes a few steps further, offering GPU up to 38 cores, twice the combined memory bandwidth and up to 96GB of combined memory.
Both processors feature a 16-core Neural Engine, which is faster than its predecessor. In addition, there are many features such as the Media Engine technology developed by Apple. Also, according to what was shared by Apple, the M2 Max is currently the industry’s unrivaled leader in performance per watt. This makes it the world’s most powerful and efficient laptop processor.
