READING NOW The most polluted areas inside the vehicles were determined by the research.

According to a new study, it has been determined that the average vehicle cabin contains more bacteria than toilets. The area with the most bacteria was the trunk.

Researchers at Aston University’s School of Biological Sciences took part in the research conducted by Scrap Car Comparison. In this context, samples were collected from two public toilets and from various parts of five different vehicles. Some of these vehicles are old, but one was only two years old.

Fecal bacteria were found in the vehicles that were the subject of the study. As we said above, the area with the most bacteria was the luggage compartment. When we go grocery shopping, we usually put the food we bought in the trunk. It seems that more attention should be paid to the cleanliness of this area.

The dirtiest areas in the vehicle are as follows:

  • Luggage: 1425 bacteria
  • Driver’s seat: 649 bacteria
  • Gear knob: 407 bacteria
  • Rear seats: 323 bacteria
  • Console: 317 bacteria

According to the results above, one of the cleanest places in the vehicle is the steering wheel. This is quite interesting because it is considered to be one of the dirtiest, as it is one of the most frequently touched. On the other hand, researchers say that the reason for this is disinfectant, etc. due to the pandemic. It depends on how we use things.

The bacteria that are the subject of the research are not dangerous enough to directly make us sick. Especially for those who wash their hands frequently. But the researchers say that “dirt is not limited to what we see,” and reminds car owners that paying more attention to cleanliness will also reduce the risk of getting sick.

So what do you do to clean your car?
