While we plan to go to the gym from time to time, we have made choices such as sitting at home watching TV series or ordering fast food from outside when there is a healthy meal to cook. Watching TV series instead of doing sports or ordering food for home instead of cooking is an operational success of the platforms that provide this service, but according to experts, it harms our daily health. So, when we look at it in this context, which companies are the most damaging to our health?

Building H, in its list of 37 different companies from 4 different sectors, ranked the companies from those that provide the most benefit to our health to those that cause the most harm, exactly as in the examples we gave above. When you look at the list, you will not see the companies that risk the future of the whole world with their carbon emissions. Because this list does not list the companies that directly harm us, but the companies that cause us to make choices that are harmful to our health.

Companies with the most positive and negative impacts on daily health:

When we look at the list based only on US-based companies, we look at the list based on ‘cities for people, not cars’ and without vehicles. Culdesac, which aims to create neighborhoods, is at the top. The most ‘familiar’ company, which is at the top of the list and described as ‘useful’, is Niantic. Niantic, the developer of Pokemon GO, was at the top of this list because it activates people and ‘forces’ people to take a walk.

The most harmful company on the list was Netflix, the world’s largest movie and series streaming service. Considering that Netflix locks many of us to the screen, we can summarize why it is considered the ‘most harmful company’. In addition, rival streaming services Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV/TV+, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ were among the ‘most harmful companies’ on the list.

The list places Burger King 29th, McDonald’s 25th and Subway 20th, the global fast food chains that drive many of us to fast food instead of cooking.
