There is almost a year until the iPhone 16 series is introduced, but new iPhone rumors have already started to come. A new leak from Asia details some of the alleged display features of the iPhone 16 models. If the information is correct, iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will not have ProMotion support like their iPhone 15 siblings and will continue to stay at the 60Hz refresh rate.
According to the same report, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max (or Ultra) will support dynamic refresh rates and come with a slightly larger screen.
So, is there a problem with Apple’s “cheapest” iPhones having 60Hz screens for another year? The answer to this is relative, of course, but it’s good news for those looking for ways to increase iPhone battery life. Because, as it is known, the 120 Hz screen refresh rate consumes battery life faster than standard use.
In addition, a blog post published on Naver provides information about iPhone 16 screen sizes and refresh rates:
- iPhone 16: 6.12-inch LTPS display with 60Hz refresh rate
- iPhone 16 Plus: 6.69-inch LTPS display with 60Hz refresh rate
- iPhone 16 Pro: 6.27 inch LTPO display
- iPhone 16 Pro Max (Ultra): 6.86 inch LTPO screen
On the other hand, an X user also published a table on the subject. This table offers the same information as Naver for the iPhone 16 series. It is unclear whether Naver received the above information from the same source, but if not, we can say that it has strengthened this information.
The table you can see below also says that Apple plans to add LTPO displays to all iPhone models, starting with the iPhone 17 series. Additionally, it seems that all screen sizes will increase to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches with the 2025 iPhones.
