Half-Life, one of the most popular single-player story-based games, has been affecting different generations for many years. The series, which left the players for a long time after Half-Life 2 Episode 2, appeared in 2020 with Half-Life: Alyx. The game, which was almost groundbreaking in VR games, was generally highly appreciated. Now Half-Life 2 appears again with a similar gameplay.
Half-Life 2: VR Mod
Half-Life 2: VR Mod, first announced in 2017, faced development problems for a long time. The project, which took important steps in the development process in 2021, entered the open beta process by carrying some elements from Half-Life: Alyx. Although the game is in open beta, it can be played without any problems from start to finish.
The mod, which is released for free on Steam for Half-Life 2 owners, includes the new weapon selection menu we saw in Alyx, laser aiming, two-handed weapon holding, manual magazine switching and renewed interface elements. The developer of the project, Source VR Mod Team, stated that the project is not finished, but the mod already has 1044 positive reviews on Steam. A minimum of GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580 is required for the mode, which also offers an admirable experience in terms of graphics. For the recommended system requirements, GTX 1080 or AMD RX 5700 is specified. You also need to have a SteamVR supported virtual reality helmet to experience the mod. You can find the mod’s Steam page here.
