Age of Empires is one of the greatest real-time strategy franchises of all time. But having been stuck on the PC platform for over 25 years put it away from today’s mobile platforms. Although Microsoft has brought Age of Empires games to the mobile side, none of them has been a successful adaptation of the real series, until now.

About seven years ago, Microsoft released Age of Empires: Castle Siege, a tower defense game on Android and iOS devices, and then released Age of Empires: World Domination, a real-time strategy game. Both games were far from successful. So Castle Siege was put on dusty shelves four years after its release, and World Domination just one year later.

Age of Empires is finally coming to mobile

Age of Empires Mobile pays homage to the series’ 25-year anniversary, bringing the original series to iOS and Android platforms. Developed by World’s Edge, a studio owned by Microsoft, only a short announcement video has been released for now. For now, we don’t have any further information about the Age of Empires Mobile release date or the game. Frankly, if there is a successful adaptation, Microsoft’s power on the mobile side will get stronger.

On the other hand, Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition was announced a while ago with 8 new maps, Ottoman and Malian races. In addition, it was announced that the AEO series will also come to Xbox consoles. With the acquisition of Microsoft and Activision Bilizzard, which is expected to be completed next year, the software giant’s hand in the mobile field will also get stronger.
