It is a well-known fact that with the arrival of the iPhone, BlackBerry began to go upside down in the smartphone market and eventually disappeared. But before that, there’s no denying that BlackBerry made rugged phones and perfected physical smartphone keyboards. If you’re a BB fan and are still better at typing with your thumbs than with all your fingers, you can now get a BlackBerry keyboard for your computer – and even for your phone…
If you’re old enough to remember the pre-iPhone days when smartphones weren’t just giant touchscreens, you know how famous BlackBerry’s phones were. There are still those who yearn for BB phones that can be found in everyone’s pocket, from corporate executives to high school students. Like the Solder Party employees in Sweden, for example.
After getting the keyboard of the BlackBerry Q20, one of the most stylish phones the company has ever released, Solder Party employees thought about developing and adapting it. The people who customized the BB Q20 combined it with a standard USB-C port and native USB HID, resulting in an external keyboard that you can connect to a Mac, Windows or Linux PC, and even Apple and Android mobile devices. Thus, the BB Q20 keyboard can now be used as a standard QWERTY keyboard.
Mass production of the BB Q20, which also has a tiny touchpad on it, was soon launched and offered for sale. You can pick up the BB Q20 keyboard right now at Solder Party’s Tindie store for $30.
