The DeLorean DMC-12, which was noted for its ‘Back to the Future’ movies, left its mark on an era. The iconic model received great acclaim with its design and gull-wing doors in the legendary movie series. Now, nearly 40 years after the original DMC-12 was launched, we are faced with the new version of the iconic model.
The legendary gull-winged DMC-12 is with us again!
As the introduction of the legendary model approaches, the images of the concept version have been shared. The sports car, called EVolved, retains its signature gull-wing doors, but we see that the angular design is left behind. The company stated that although this vehicle is a concept, the design will be largely preserved in the production version. We are very curious how the legendary car of the Back to the Future movies will look in real life.
If we look at the shared images, we see that the design has changed greatly compared to the original model. Except for the gull wings and the grille on the rear window, the design of the vehicle has changed greatly. Written by Italdesign, the car has an aerodynamic design that tapers from the front to the back.
On the grille of the vehicle with thin LED headlights at the front, we see the ‘DELOREAN’ lettering. In the lower section, V-shaped LED lighting units draw attention. On the side of the vehicle, which has very wide doors, a flowing design welcomes us. The shoulder line combined with the wide rear fender reveals the sporty character of the vehicle.
When we move into the interior, a pair of big screens that we are used to from today’s cars greet us. The touchscreen infotainment system of the vehicle, which hosts a large digital instrument panel, rises at an angle from the center console to the front section.
So where does this nice looking vehicle get its power from? In our world where electric cars are becoming more and more widespread, DeLorean does not seem to be indifferent to this situation. The new model will feature an electric power unit in addition to the 6-cylinder engine of its predecessor. While the company did not share any details about the power of this engine, the car is expected to have a range of around 500 kilometers.
Although the images have been shared, DeLorean plans to make the official presentation of the vehicle at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance organization that will be held in August. We hope to get more details about this iconic car in the coming days.
