BlackBerry, which left its mark on the phone industry for a while, but couldn’t keep up with the changes since 2010, has moved away from its old days, unfortunately, is not as popular in the smart phone industry as it used to be. Although the company surveyed the market by making a few attempts in this process, it could never achieve the target it wanted in terms of sales figures.

BlackBerry, which has been in the background for many years due to many such reasons, announced that it has stopped supporting millions of devices with a critical decision it has taken in the past weeks. Thereupon, it was alleged that the company completely withdrew from the phone business. However, it seems that these rumors do not reflect the truth.

BlackBerry will soon launch its 5G supported model

BlackBerry published an explanation text on the Frequently Asked Questions page towards the end of December and announced that as of January 4, 2022, the related phones will lose their cellular network and Wi-Fi support. The statement made was as follows;

Legacy services for BlackBerry 7.1 OS and earlier, BlackBerry 10 software, PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier will no longer be available after January 4, 2022. As of this date, these legacy services and software via carrier or Wi-Fi connections will no longer work reliably, including data, phone calls, SMS and 9-1-1 functions.

After this move, allegations started to emerge that the company would only produce software specific to businesses and institutions from now on, and that it would withdraw from the phone business completely. However, according to recent leaks, BlackBerry has no such plans at the moment.

Allegedly, BlackBerry is currently working on a device with the concept of “ultra-security 5G supported corporate smartphone”. Let’s even point out that we have made a partnership with FIH Mobile for this.

BlackBerry’s first smartphone with 5G support will be presented to users with a keyboard design similar to previous models. However, there is not the slightest information about the name, technical features and design of the device yet.
